올해 8회째를 맞이했던 매니토바주를 대표하는 스펠링비 챔피언 뽑는 '위니펙 프리 프레스 지역 스펠링 비(Winnipeg Free Press Regional Spelling Bee)' 대회에서 브랜든(Brandon)시에 사는 중국계 13세 남학생이 우승을 차지했습니다. 그리고 지난 3월말에 토론토에서 있었던 캐나다 전국 스펠링비 대회(Canspell national finals)의 챔피언은 세인트 존슨(St. John's)에서 온 12세 여학생이 우승을 차지하였습니다.

올해 매니토바주 위니펙시에서 열린 스펠링비 지역결선 대회에는 교민 자녀 1명이 학교대표로 참가하였다는데, 총 50명이 참가한 가운데 8명이 남아있는 라운드까지 올라갔었다고 교민 한 분이 메일로 알려주셨습니다. 아마 앞으로 몇 년 기회가 남아 있으니 꾸준히 공부를 한다면 좋은 결과가 있을 것으로 생각됩니다.

내년에 있을 스펠링대회에 참가할 현재 3학년부터 7학년까지의 교민 자녀들을 위하여 2012년 스펠링비 단어가 있는 학습자료를 올려드립니다.

프린트하여 지금부터 꾸준히 연습하면 학교 대표가 되는 것은 물론 위니펙 지역결선대회에서 1-3라운드는 어렵지 않게 통과할 수 있을 것으로 생각됩니다. 그 후는 별도의 다른 자료를 갖고 공부를 해야 하는데 그것은 여기를 클릭하여 참고를 하시길 바랍니다.
