현재 캐나다 한국참전용사협회에서는 한국전쟁 60년 (1953-2013) 휴전을 기념하기 위하여 대한민국 국민에게 "마지막 작별 회화 기금(Farewell to Korea Painting Fund)" 운동을 재외동포들의 후원으로 $ 30,000 모금 목표을 진행중에 있습니다.
회화 예술작가는 직접 한국전쟁 참전용사로 복무하신 Mr. Ted Zuber 씨로 그가 그린 이 그림은 대한민국 국민에게 기증하는 뜻깊은 의미가 있습니다. 이 그림은 한국 전쟁 박물관에 영원히 전시 할 예정으로 기부자의 명단이 기록될 것입니다.

이전에 한국 참전용사 뉴스에 Mr.Vince Courtenay에서 메시지에 설명된 바와 같이, 3 만 달러짜리 기금은 Ted Zuber, 뛰어난 전쟁 미술가신 동시에 한국 전쟁의 RCR소속 전직사격 군에 의해 실제 체험한 그림입니다. Hill 355은 RCR은 실제로 세 보병 부대및 지원군으로 치열한 전투에 참여했습니다 바로 그전투장소를 묘사한 것입니다. 이 그림은 캐나다 참전용사 약 26,000 명이 한국전쟁에 참전하였든 것을 실재 시사한 것이며 우리 용사들의 소원으로 직접 마지막 작별 선물로 대한민국 국민에게 드리는 것입니다.

Korean War Veterans and Friends of the People of the Republic of Korea:
At its regular monthly meeting of Thursday, March 29th, 2012, KVA Unit 17 (Manitoba) authorized a donation of $ 200 to the “Farewell to Korea Painting Fund”. Click on the attachment above in order to view the letter that has been sent to: Sandra Delorme Elliott, the Treasurer of KVA Unit 12, 108 Islandview Drive, Amherstview, Ontario K7N 0A5.
It is our hope that all KVA Units in Canada and also many individual KVA members will also make donations to this fund. Senator Yonah Martin of the Canadian Senate has enthusiastically endorsed this project.
Individuals and organizations that wish to donate to this fund are asked to do so by mailing cheques or money orders made out to “KVA Unit 12” to Sandra Delorme Elliott at the above address. All donors are asked to advise
koreavetnews@aol.com of donations that have been made. Terry Wickens, the current President of KVA Ontario and immediate Past President of KVA Canada should also be advised at terrywickens@sympatico.ca about donations that
are made.
As previously explained in messages from Vince Courtenay in Korea Vet News, a $ 30,000 fund is being raised for the purpose of commissioning a painting to be produced by Ted Zuber, a distinguished war artist and former sniper
with the RCR in the Korean War. Hill 355 will be depicted, the place where the RCR, and in fact all three infantry regiments and supporting services were involved in fierce battles. This painting will be presented to the
people of Korea as a final farewell gift from all us, the approximately 26,000 Canadians who served in Korea and in the peacekeeping period that followed.

Hill 355, Bravery, Tragedy

Canadian Ambassador Denis Comeau adjusts small Canadian Flag after placing
humble wreath at summit of Hill 355 in 2003 before ending his tour of duty
in Korea. It was something he wanted to do to pay homage symbolically to all
Canadians who fell in the Korean War. From the summit, as all who served
there know, when the sky is clear, as it was that day, one can see all the
way down the valley to the Saimichon River, where just beyond to the East
lies the infamous Hook position. There was no fanfare, no release of
photographs on this occasion. It was just something that Ambassador Comeau
wanted to do. Shown with him is Colonel Jules Wermenlinger, then the
Canadian Defence Attache in Seoul. The sign welcomes UN inspectors to the
summit of Hill 355 and OP/CP of the ROK commanders.
Farewell to Korea Painting Fund
Canadian veteran/artist Ted Zuber is undertaking a huge canvas that will
depict Hill 355 and be dedicated to all Canadians who served in Korea. It
will be presented to the People of Korea as a final farewell gift of the
Canadians who served there. The freedom Koreans enjoy today is their real
gift, left there by the suffering and the wounded and the shell shocked and
the thousands who served. The painting will be a reminder to future
generations in Korea that the Canadians were there and that they gave them
that freedom.
Donations to the $30,000 project can be made by cheque to

Funding is needed and the appeal is made to all Korean War Veterans, and
others who may wish to contribute.
