며칠전 밤늦게 집에 돌아가는 길에 눈을 치우는 불도져 2대를 봤습니다.
겨울철이면 의례 보는 풍경이지만 한국에 계신 분들에게는 생소한 풍경일 것 같아서 카메라에 담아봤습니다.
디지탈카메라로 사진을 찍으려니 거리의 빛이 밝지가 않고, 불도져하고도 거리가 멀어 카메라 플레쉬가 제대로 동작을 안해서 오랫만에 수동으로 사진을 찍었습니다.
이렇게 저렇게 사진을 많이 찍었는데, 빛 부족때문에 노출을 많이 하려고 셔터속도를 늦게 했더니 카메라가 온통 흔들려서 제대로 나온 사진이 별로 없더군요. -_-;;;
그나마 제법 볼만한 사진을 뽑아보니 가까이 있던 불도져는 이미 저 멀리 달아나서 뒷모습만이 찍혔습니다. -_-
불도져 2대가 연속적으로 가면서 눈을 도로에서 도보로 밀어내면 도보로 지나갈 수 있는 소형 불도져가 다시 사람이 지나갈 수 있게 도보에서 도로쪽으로 눈을 밀어내서 도로와 도보사이에 담을 쌓듯이 눈이 쌓이게 만듭니다. 나중에 덤프트럭과 포크레인같은 것이 와서 그 눈을 모두 실어 가까운 곳에 있는 큰 공터(주변공원의 널찍한 주차장, 또는 밭 등)나 위니펙시 바깥으로 실어나르게 됩니다.
캐나다의 대부분의 대도시들이 눈을 치우기 위한 예산을 많이 가지고 있습니다.
그전에 각 시마다 눈을 치우기 위한 예산을 비교한 위니펙 프리 프레스 기사가 생각나서 한번 찾아봤습니다.
위니펙시의 한 해 눈치우는 예산은 약 27.3 밀리언달러 라고 하며 12월초 첫주에만 눈을 치우는데 70만불을 지불했다고 합니다. 그리고 올 년말까지 눈을 치우는데 5.25 밀리언달러가 더 필요하다고 합니다. 정말 눈을 치우는데 엄청난 돈이 들어갑니다.
다음은 캐나다 각 도시의 눈을 치우는 예산 및 눈을 어떻게 치울 것인지 하는 정책에 관한 신문기사입니다. 위니펙이 오타와나 에드몬튼보다 눈 치우는 예산이 적고 눈을 처음 치우는 시간도 헬리펙스나 리자이나 등 다른 도시보다 늦네요. -_-

위니펙시의 눈 치우는 정책(우선 순위)중 Priority 1 streets 는 Main St, Portage Ave, Grant Ave, Pembina Hwy,Henderson Hwy 등 같이 근간이 되는 도로를 말합니다.
폭설이 내린 날은 제설작업때문에 snow routes 상의 주차 차량들은 밤 12시부터 새벽 6시사이에는 모두 다른 곳으로 옮겨져야 합니다.
(참고: 이를 어기면 1차로 벌금이 부과되고, 그래도 차를 옮기지 않으면 견인을 합니다. 겨울철에 길가 주차를 할 때는 주차안내 표지와 함께 해당 도로가 snow routes 인지 아닌지 꼭 확인을 하세요.)

사진을 보니 그레이더 라는 중장비네요
도로 평탄 작업용 중기인데 저도 군대 있을 때 사용 해보았지요
눈이 많이 오니 저걸로 눈을 치우네요
전 페로다(바퀴 크고 앞에 바가지 큰것 달린것)로 눈을 치우기도 했었는데
사진을 보니 감회가 새롭네요
공군이라 활주로 제설 작업에 온갖 중장비를 다 동원 했었거든요
얼른 위니펙으로 가서 저도 눈치우고 싶은데.......
