Closing words on the Year End Ceremony of the Manitoba Korean School

Hello.

지난 6월 6일 종업식에서 한글학교 정기총회 및 학예발표회와 시상식이 있었습니다.

We had a General Meeting, Talent Show and Awards Ceremony at the Year End Event, last Saturday on June 6.

먼저 총회에서 정관 제5장 제 26조 학생의 자격에서 <만 5세 이상의 지원자로 본 학교의 교사진에서 적합하다고 결정한 지원자> 를 <한국어와 문화에 관심이 있고 교사진에서 적합하다고 결정한 지원자> 로의 개정안이 총회 참석자 과반수의 동의로 통과 인준이 되었습니다.

At the General Meeting a change of the School Constitution was passed upon the majority’s approval: Chapter 5, Article 26, Eligibility of Student: “Children from the age of four, considered eligible by the teachers team” has been changed to “Anyone interested in Korean language and culture and considered eligible by teachers.”

학예발표회에서는 미술반과 종이접기반 학생들의 작품이 전시되어 학부모님들과 학생들의 관심을 끌었으며 그 외 동요반과 유치1반, 케이팝 댄스, 태권도, 사물놀이반의 공연이 있었습니다.

At the Talent Show, the work of the Arts and Origami classes was displayed. It attracted much attention from students and parents. In addition, the Children’s Song and Kindergarten 1, K-Pop dance, Taekwondo, and Samullori, Korean percussion classes performed their skills learned throughout the second term.

시상식에서는 소은비, 임정수 학생의 개근상 수여식이 있었고 한국어1반의 이린아, 김가은, 양선모, 한국어2반의 유수잔나, 김초록, 한국어3반의 남안, 이규원, 한국어5반의 김동진, 소찬비, 신유태, 임정수학생이 평점이 95점 이상으로 으뜸상을 받았습니다. 그외에 65명이 격려상품을 받았습니다.

At the Awards Ceremony, the Attendance Award went to Eunbee So (Korean Class 3) and Jungsoo Lim (Korean Class 5). A total of eleven students received the Excellence Award for their achievements in average marks of 95/100: Adelena Lee, Gaeun Kim, Sunmo Yang (Korean Class 1); Suzanna Yu Carter, Chorok Kim (Korean Class 2); Sarah Ann Nam, Gyuwon Lee (Korean Class 3); Dongjin Kim, Chanbee Emma So, Yutae Shin, Jungsoo Lim (Korean Class 5). Besides, a total of 65 students received the Encouragement Prize.

또한 지난 말하기대회 최우수상자인 화비니학생에게 상패가 전달되었습니다. 성인반 최우수상자인 리차드 마루식학생은 불참관계로 같이 공유할 수 없었습니다.

The Speech Contest Winner Plaque was given to Baenie La Fleur, the Grand Prize Winner in Children’s Korean Classes. Richard Marusyk, the Grand Prize Winner in Adult Korean Classes, could not share it due to his absence.

그리고 올해 두 졸업생이 있었습니다. 화비니와 변재호 졸업생의 앞날에 무한한 발전을 빕니다. 그 외에도 원예영 (500불), 박윤식 (500불), 화비니 (500불), 변재호 졸업생 (300불) 에게 대학입학 장학금 전달이 있었습니다. 장학금은 6년이나 9년 이상 한글학교에 재학한 학생들에게 수여됩니다.

We had two graduates this year. We express our best wishes to our graduates, Baenie La Fleur and Jaeho Byun. In addition, four graduates received a university entrance scholarship: Yeyoung Won ($500), Yunsik Park ($500), Baenie La Fleur ($500), and Jaeho Byun ($300). This scholarship is given to graduates, who attended the School six years or more, or nine years or more.

마지막으로 일년간 수고해 준 49명의 자원봉사자들에게 자원봉사증서와 5불의 팀호튼스 상품권이 각각 전달되었습니다.

Last but not least, a total of 49 volunteers received a Volunteer Certificate and a gift card of $5 for Tim Hortons.

우리 모든 학생들이 무척 자랑스럽습니다. 일년간 학교에 다니느라 수고한 모든 학생들과 자원봉사자들 그리고 임원진과 교사진, 이사회와 학부형회, 한인단체장님들, 여러 기부자님들과 지원금을 주신 토론토 영사관 그리고 매니토바 주정부 문화부에게 격려와 감사의 말씀 드립니다.

I am very proud of our students. My sincere encouragement and gratitude goes to all students, volunteers, staff, teachers, Directors of the School Board, parents, Korean community leaders, all donors, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto, and the Ministry of Multiculturalism and Literacy of Manitoba for their support.
